I'd report these as PMRs, with the specific complaint that they break
backwards compatibility.  One possibility is that the person in charge
of the IMPF commands does not have a midrange background, and so doesn't
understand the concept.  Remember, in just about every other
environment, from Unix to Windows to Java, developers think nothing of
changing the interface and making you rewrite your software.  This was
one of the big issues with XML in the early days; you could not use two
packages that each used different versions of the SAX parser.

Anyway, be sure to let IBM know that backwards compatibility is a
requirement, and hopefully that will get back to the person doing the
IMPF commands.
