Dave,

A while back, a LONG while back (dec 2003) Joe Pluta released a very preliminary project called OS400Bridge. It was fairly cool in that his demo app accessed an MS Access Database from the iSeries. I took a look at the project, getting it installed and testing a few things and then marked it as "Interesting - Look at this again soon...." and the forgot about it. Perhaps Joe did as well.

Anyway, the project doesn't show any released files at the sourceforge site but I have the original zip file. You'd need to have some Java skills to rework the classes a bit to talk to Oracle but it may not be much more than using a different JDBC driver. This is a very rough project but perhaps it might meet your needs

I would like to be able to read an Oracle 9i table that is on a Windows 2003 server from an AS/400 application. We currently exchange files though the IFS, but this is a nightly batch job. I would like to read the table on demand, hopefully without having to buy any more software. I have looked at the archives and the info center for ODBC, but didn't see anything that seemed to fit. Most of the articles I saw were about connecting a PC to the AS/400 via ODBC, and the code examples were for Visual Basic or in C. I would be coding the program in ILERPG or CL. I know there is a Oracle Access Manager out there, but it seems unlikely that this is a free product.

Any suggestions or ideas? Additional places to search? Manuals to read (I have looked and not seen anything so far)?

Thanks
