Or, did your 520 get a new IP address (different from your old box)?

Maybe the firewall was set up to permit certain traffic only to the old address.

Does the problem only happen when you perform file transfers or directory 
listings?  If so, it's almost definitely a firewall related issue.  It's 
possible that the port numbers that the FTP server uses changed when you 
upgraded from v4r5 to v5r3 if your firewall wasn't set up quite right.
