Thanks Brian. You were right. I've tried again Justin's solution and light was 
on again after we disconnect the cable from HMC port. At same time, a record 
was stored in Service Action Log and it was the only one because I've deleted 
previous records. Content was about problems on cable, port and so on. By 
pressing F6 to acknowledge, light was turned off.

I will see if light turns on again on next IPL. Thanks Justin for the idea 
about ASM. There are some interesting things in it. We will surelly install a 
second ethernet card on our PC console to use ASM.

If the guy who helped me by installation didn't tell me about a complicated 
solution to turn the light off, I probably tried to use SST as usually and I 
surelly did not disturb the nice midrange guys.

At this point I'd probably try Brian's approach - seems a little easier than 
mine for a single-image system.  Plus, once you're in the Service Action Log, 
it should give you the reason as to why your light keeps turning on.

STRSST, 1, 7, 6 - Once you're in, press F6 to acknowledge and turn off your 
light.  Here's what the help text says from a single-image box:

Acknowledge all errors function key:                           
                                                               
    Choosing this function key will acknowledge all existing   
    errors in this partition and will turn off this partition's
    system attention indicator.  Any additional errors will    
    reactivate the partition's system attention indicator.     
---

Keep in mind that there is something which made it turn on - further 
troubleshooting would be a good idea on the messages in the action log.

Some precisions :
To turn the led off, you have to select :
"System configuration" then
"Service indicators" and finally
"System Attention Indicator"

It works, but the only problem is that the led turned again on as soon as I 
disconnected the PC after operation. Does it mean we have to let the HMC port 
connected to a PC ?

Good morning.  To fix your system attention LED on a single-image system, you 
need to  connect to ASM via one of the ports marked HMC1 or HMC2 on the back of 
the machine.

Since you have no HMC for the 520, you'll need to set the IP on your PC to
192.168.2.1 if you want to use port HMC1 or 192.168.3.1 to use port HMC2.
(The system sets itself as 192.168.2.147 and 192.168.3.147, so you really can 
use any other IP other than 147, but 1 is easy...) 

Do **NOT** plug the HMC ports in to your corporate LAN, it will pick up a DHCP 
address and is very hard to identify after doing so.  You will just be running 
a cable between this temporary PC and the CEC of your 520.

Once you configure your PC (let's say you're using HMC1 port) to have IP 
address 192.168.2.1, plug the cable from your PC's ethernet card in to the
HMC1 port.  You should get a link.  Point your browser to
https://192.168.2.1 and click yes or OK through any warnings.  You will get to 
Advanced System Management.  Once you're in there (you'll need to sign in with 
"admin" - the password by default is "admin" and will need to be changed if 
you've never signed-on here - you can change it to be the same password if you 
want), navigate through the menus until you find the one that says "System 
Attention LED" and click the button to turn it off.  

The bad thing is that the LED on the system will turn on and not turn off until 
you've acknowledged any errors.  It's not like systems of old whose LED turns 
off when you fix the problem.  Take a look through the error logs (also in ASM) 
to ensure nothing is wrong before you sign out.

YMMV on this procedure, but if everything is default and set up correctly, it 
should work.  Make ABSOLUTELY sure you go to httpS or it won't work.

We started a pretty new 520 with no real problem. But still first start, the 
alert led remains on. The IBM partner who helped me by starting told me it's 
because we have no HMC connected and led can be turned off by simulating this 
HMC by a PC connected directly to the HMC port. Can somebody help ?
