Dear Eugeniusz, The Canon iR1270 supports the Canon Advanced Printing Technology (CAPT) method of printing. CAPT is effectively a raster mode style of printing with special bi-directional printer control capabilities included. As far as I know, IBM does not currently offer a CAPT driver for the iSeries. If you have iSeries Access, my suggestion would be to use it to create a PC5250 printer session for this Canon printer. In this case, you will need to configure an iSeries Access PC5250 print session that is not using Host Print Transform (uncheck the box Transform Print Data to ASCII on AS/400). This configuration option will allow the OS/400 EBCDIC data to be transferred natively from the iSeries to the PC running iSeries Access. If you also make sure that you do not select the Use PDT checkbox, iSeries Access will convert your EBCDIC data into a Windows format known as GDI on the PC running iSeries Access. The GDI format is the generic input format required by Windows print drivers. Canon provides CAPT print drivers for a wide variety of Microsoft Windows operating system versions. The combination of iSeries Access PC5250 Printer Session and Canon CAPT Windows Printer Driver should be able to process your *SCS spool files correctly. iSeries Access is only able to provide GDI format of *SCS spool files. It will not be able to convert *AFPDS or *USERASCII spool files into GDI format so that the CAPT Windows printer driver can format the information into the correct Canon format.
