Ken,

Are you talking about a numeric field on a display screen?  I'm not sure how 
stripping a field from a record relates to screen attributes unless you are 
reading from the screen.  If so, set the input field to a 10 byte field and 
check for significant digits in the code.  %CHECK('0' :field) will start from 
the left and find the first non-zero entry.

                I have the task of stripping a numeric field from a record , 
the length of the field is either
                6, or 7 or 8 or 9 or 10 numeric digits in length

                The SDA/greenscreen field entries, (unlike input boxes , and 
internal field definitions in applications
                like VB), generally specify a specific length for the field

                Does anyone have the code snippet to handle this type of 
variable input?, obviously an array process.
