Look at pdf page 6 of
http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/hardware/editions/pdf/faq.pdf

BRMS is NOT included on the Enterprise package for the 810 - sorry for the
false hope. It is included on the 825, 870 & 890.
But, hey, SQL, Performance Tools, WAS Express V5, and, (hold on to your
seat) 5 seats of DB2 for Linux. :-)
Evidently IBM throws a lot more bones to the >810 crowd. Probably to keep
the 810 more entry level priced?

I found the above url at
http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/hardware/editions/

You can also click on that Features tab and see this.
See also those Service vouchers that you ARE entitled to. Like having an
IBMer or a business partner spend a day setting up Websphere or some such
thing. We allocated our 520 purchase to that. Our 570 went to the Linux
install. We now have a Linux partition on both racks. Installed and
running that day.

You paid for it - use it.

Enterprise Edition Software

Rob,

Do you have any links or info on what software is included in the
Enterprise
Edition? We purchased an 810 Enterprise Edition last year and I wasn't
aware BRMS was included. I'm wondering how I get the license keys for it
and if there is other software I'm not aware of.

In case they purchased the Enterprise Edition package, BRMS is included
with that. So, in effect, they might have already paid for it.

Re: Limitations of the DUPTAP Command

I would love to get BRMS, but in the event that they don't want to spend
the money for it, is there some better way, using the VOL param perhaps?

Whereas w/ the old tapes, a monthly save would fit on most of two tapes,
here there are many months that can go on one new tape. So I have been
manually saving months via the DUPTAP command. The problem is in looking
at
the DSPTAP you only see the same library, repeating w/out an indication of
what month it is. The way to do it would be to save it as say ARJAN,
ARFEB,
for example, but this means to restore if first and rename. Is there any
better ideas for this?

Try using BRMS. You can copy tapes of different origin/density etc. to
your
3581 tapes. I have done this conversion for several clients and it works
well. If you have quite a few tapes, the minimal cost of BRMS pays for
itself in that time. (Does Save While Active and Domino save while active
really well too....)
