Hello Kirk,

V5R3 doesn't seem to run too bad on our 2291 test box, but I can't give
hard comparisons since this particular box is not used much. The Java web
stuff dogs :-)

I can tell you it runs well on the i5 though :-)

Personally I think you might want to consider leaving them stable at V5R1
if they are going to upgrade in a few years.

Unless you have a valid reason to move, I don't think sitting at V5R1 is
going to hurt in this case.

You're not going to be able to reliably run Websphere or any other Java
server on a box of that size, so why not just stabilize and worry about
upgrading when the time comes.

Just my two cents.

subject: 170-2291 and V5R3

I have a client on a 170-2291 with 256mb memory running V5R1 just fine. I
want to move them on to either 5.2 or 5.3. In either case I will up the
memory to 512mb, but how much of a performance hit will I get going to
5.2? 5.3? Anyone running 5.3 on this small of a box?

They aren't going to buy a new system for at least 2 years...

Thanks
