We too have been receiving these odd invoices. We did an evaluation of
the sw several years ago, but never purchased it. Last year we received an
invoice and tried to inquire as to the purpose of the invoice. (It is
difficult when the invoice provides only an address to mail the payment
to-no other contact information). We finally placed it in a file with a
note of no authorization to pay. Today we received another invoice, we
will save the time and just add it to the file.
I figure if they ever decide to pursue the matter they can explain to me
what the invoice is for (rather than a generic "maintenance").
But most maintenance contracts are of a nature that if I don't pay the
fee, I don't receive the service. I suppose we could always write cancel
on the invoice and return it, but why bother.
