It's certainly possible for a file infected with a virus to be put in an IFS
directory. However, because of the encapsulation of OS/400 objects
(particularly programs), it wouldn't affect OS/400 programs or the operating
system itself. However, the infected files could certainly be passed to PCs
or servers that may then become infected.

I don't use it, but I understand Bytware is a product designed to work with
the IFS ..they seem to have a relationship with IBM.
