Hello,
I have a customer that is looking at replacing an HP 4100dn printer with
an HP 4650dtn in order to add color printing for both PCs and the
iSeries. They are currently using HPT with the 4100 to print lines,
boxes, bar codes, logos and various font sizes via *AFPDS. The iSeries
is at V5R2, soon to be V5R3. The speed of their iSeries and network
makes this work quite well without PSF.
What I am trying to confirm is that HPT will be able to do the lines,
boxes and fonts in color or will an IPDS SIMM and PSF be required? The
InfoCenter at best is unclear on this area. It would be nice if IBM
produced a grid listing all printer DDS keywords (and each option to
them) with columns for SCS, HPT, IPDS, and PSF and check marks for
required or "works with". I think I read somewhere that the logos (page
segments) can not use color even with IPDS and PSF due to the iSeries
stored image format.
If an IPDS is required what is the list's recommendations as the best
for the money?
Thanks.
