Businesses are not ethical beings.  While in the US businesses have the
same legal rights as citizens, they are not bound by either ethics or
morals.  Their sole reason for being is to produce profit for their
owner(s).

        If Corporations, like individuals are rewarded for unethiccal 
behaviour, it stands to 
reason that the poor behaviour will continue.
        Like individuals, Corporations very often do not see, or get affected 
by the human misery 
they cause. And the list here is quite large.

        On the bright side, we, as a society, are standing up and complaining 
very loudly about 
fraud, injustices, and environmental irresponsibility.
        The collapse of many companies because of fraud, is one example, and 
the consequential
issuance of the SOX act, and it's implications are a step in the right 
direction.
        Unfortunately, there are some countries, and many situations that fraud 
related
laws don't protect.

Maybe we need another mailing list entitled Ethics-L....<grin>
