There is no advantage to relaying mail if your own mail server is set up correctly. Now what did that bounce message say was the original sender? Did that have your own valid domain and e-mail address? If not, you may not be able to send e-mail to some servers that validate the sending IP address to a valid domain. Go ahead a send an e-mail to me chrisb@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and I will send back the headers so you can see what you are sending out. You can also send to your own exterior e-mail account such as yahoo.
