Meant to add more info on this topic as well... One issue you may run into, especially if you are a 24/7 shop, is that after you purge some files, they will need to be reorged. That can be a pain but there are some products out there that can do a "reorg while active" if needed. Also there IS at least one product that takes JDE/Peoplesoft purging to a new level. I have talked with this vendor at conferences and the tool sounds really cool but we just don't need it. David Shea at http://www.arctools.com has a product specifically for JDE purging and is worth looking at. I believe he also has a reorg tool as well. -----Original Message----- From: Sannan Solberg Sent: Tuesday, October 19, 2004 8:31 AM To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Subject: RE: JDE/Peoplesoft Archiving Yep, do it all the time but I don't need any special software to do it. JDE/Peoplesoft has quite a few built in purges for a majority of their files as well as a generic Dreamwriter purge called P00PURGE. Can I assume you are using Peoplesoft World? Or EnterpriseOne. All of their purges create a "copy" of the file you are purging and puts the purged data from the production file into it. You can then just tape off the files to archive and you're done. If you have specifics, I should be able to help. There is also a user forum and list at http://www.jdelist.com that this type of discussion has been regularly covered. You can check their archives and probably find something. -----Original Message----- From: boyd bill [mailto:bill.boyd@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, October 19, 2004 7:54 AM To: 'Midrange Systems Technical Discussion' Subject: JDE/Peoplesoft Archiving Hey, I was just wondering if anyone else out there has run into the need to purge JDE(peoplesoft) data from the iseries and if so, what product have you used that you would also recommend. I have been working with a software from the UK that was all ready decided to be evaluated when I took this position and so far I have had to apply 4 patches just to an eval software and it hasn't been a smooth ride. Any assistance is appreciated! Thanks from the guy who hopes to go to COMMON someday........
