When we went DBCS it was not necessary to do a scratch install. We ordered secondary languages from IBM. (Note if you on an IBM unsupported release eg V4R4 you will need to get the secondary CDs from some one else) These included DBCS English DBCS UPPER CASE ENGLISH Chinese Trad Chinese Simplified. Refer to Software Installation Document Number SC41-5120-02 for installing the secondaries and the then switch your primary language to DBCS UPPER CASE ENGLISH. If you dont have Japanese you can switch to DBCS English. You will set or need to set certain system values eg QIGC. You will need a Client Access PC with Chinese as the language. Having said all that try this. (I dont think it will work) Set up a Chinese W2000 pc with Client Access as Chinese. Then transfer the file to the PC into MS EXCELL (use the macro) You may then get the data in Excell in Chinese.
