Do you sell 15 inch Italian Pizzas?

I ran into this problem while exporting to an Oracle platform for a
construction company. I ended up creating a work file with the data to be
exported. I then have an RPG program that scans for the quote symbol in
the job cost description field, and replaces it with the word inch. Then I
can use the CPYFRMIMPF with no problems.

Perhaps you could work something similar with the state. Are they using
your data to send you orders? Send them a new file with the double quote
changed to inch.

Subject: The " character in CPYFRMIMPF

We regularly get files from the State of Indiana in .csv format (their
choice) which I put into the IFS and then use CPYFRMIMPF to get it into
the
database.

Today they sent a file with the following record:

FDP,COM,"BP11","Freezer","72/5.5oz por.","15" Ital. Pizza","15" Italian
Pizza",0,0,26,24.75,9.97,0,28,07/28/2004,|
                                            ^ ^

Note the 2 places where they used the " symbol. If I open the file in
Excel, it is smart enough to know it's part of the data, not a delimiter.
CPYFRMIMPF, however, doesn't seem to be able to figure that out. Is there
any way around this? I searched IBM support and these archives. (If
there
ain't no , behind the " then the " ain't no delimiter.)

Sheesh, MS with more intelligent software than IBM? The apocalypse must
be
upon us. <g>
