Does anyone know of something like the UIM for Print Files?
Specifically, I'd like to write records to a PRTF format from REXX and
not just to a flat file or screen. I'm trying to create a formatted
bill in REXX without having the format in the code.

UIM supports printed output. Quite limited when compared to alternatives but suitable for simple listing reports--especially if you're just trying to print something that can be displayed in a panel.

See the Application Display Programming manual (yes, bit strange having printer information in a display programming manual but that's where all of UIM is documented). The syntax diagrams for many UIM statements show a display format and a print format.

:prthead name=header.Title Of Report
:prttrail.**** E N D O F L I S T I N G ****
:eprthead.
:prtpnl name=report1
:data compact layout=1 bodysep=space.
:datacol width=50.
:datacol width='*'.
:datagrp grpsep=qindent compact.
:datai var=item1.Text for item 1
:datai var=item1qual. Text for item 1 qualifier
:edatagrp.
:edata.
:eprtpnl.

(Not tested but should be close enough for an example)

Simon Coulter.
