I used a utility to scan QCPFMSG for "Cannot allocate object for file" and found: Message Sev Text CPD32E8 40 Cannot allocate object for file &1 in &2. CPF32B3 40 Cannot allocate object for file &1 in &2. CPF3203 40 Cannot allocate object for file &1 in &2. The second level help on one of them shows: Message ID . . . . . . . . . : CPF32B3 Message file . . . . . . . . : QCPFMSG Library . . . . . . . . . : QSYS Message . . . . : Cannot allocate object for file &1 in &2. Cause . . . . . : The save operation was not performed for member &3 file &1 in library &2 type *&4, because it is allocated by job &7/&6/&5. Recovery . . . : Try the request again when the object is available. The other ones weren't quite as informative. So then use WRKOBJLCK to find who is using that file.
