We implemented Aldon in conjunction with installing an 2-LAPR 810. Our primary partition is "live/production", and the secondary is "test/development". Segregated development is a good thing. The only advice I have is have the system partitioned and configured (system names, networking, software and data libraries) before implementing Aldon. We have Aldon installed in the test partition, and RSF in test and primary partitions. Here is the basic flow for development: 1. Add or check out source in Aldon, develop. 2. Promote to "quality" (test partition only) 3. Promote to production, and optionally distribute to remote systems. ("production" environment in test partition, live environment in primary partition) Aldon has distinct "promote" and "distribute" options. "Promotion" moves source code and objects from the previous environment to the next. Both your test and live partitions have "production" data. It is possible to promote to production solely on the test partition. "Distribution" is a distinct action that moves (primarily) objects from the Aldon system/partition to "remote" systems/partitions. Aldon prefers using RSF (media and license included when you purchase Aldon) for distributions. When setting up application environments, you can tell the "promote to production" action to cause a "distribute to remote systems" also, which would move source to your live production partition. Feel free to contact me if you want more information; we've been live with Aldon since March, so a lot of the implementation stuff is relatively fresh. We had a discussion with ALDON techs. regarding implementation of Change Management software. This is the right opportunity for us to clean up our system. Also, there is an option to go for a separate partition for development ( with purchase of an additional module). Any idea what are involved in creating an lpar for a system to work in tandem w/ ALDON? Thanks, Mike
