I found that if I change the 'Graphic Object Support' radio group from the default of 'Basic' to 'None', then the wordart, lines, checkboxes and so forth will show up in the overlay. I still can't figure out why the margin settings don't seem to have a rhyme or reason. My document has a 0.5 inch top margin and a 0.56 inch left margin. I've tried lots of sample sizes for the 'clip unprintable' setting in the print driver and I get pretty close if I set the top to 0.5 inch and the left to .18 inch.
