The usual CYA. I'm sure some legal eagle insists that worst possible consequences need to be documented. In this case, data in files is flushed to DASD if possible during abnormal end, data in user indexes is not even considered for flushing to DASD. So there is a risk if you are depending on the data integrity in a user index.
