You know, we ordered that PDU. As a second unit. Our rack was getting
pretty full. The system unit itself is plugged into a third party PDU
which looks like the same plug as your average PC. The 0588 and the 0595
plug into a PDU.

On our 570 rack all the big IBM box stuff uses the official PDU. The two
x four 3582's, their fiber switch, HMC, HMC monitor are all on one third
party PDU.

Subject
Rackmount 520?

We are getting ready to purchase a new 520 and were wanting to go with the
Rackmounted unit.
However, our VAR is saying:

If you order the 520 rack mounted, IBM requires that you order FC5160
Power
Distribution Unit which adds $1,000.00 to the cost of the CPU. This
feature
code provides a unit into which you plug the 520, then the PDU plugs into
the UPS, and the PDU had 250V instead of 125, so you would have to have a
UPS that supports 250 Volts.

Is this right? Has anyone else purchased a 520 and got it up and running
yet? This just sounds kind of odd.
