Not that generic.. the micro code on the disk controller
is very picky about what it will allow or not. If you
planning on going down to Sam's Club and buying a few
drives, I don't think you will have much luck.

Used drives are numerous and easily purchased just about
anywhere including the world's largest flea market(ebay).
