You're probably thinking about O_TEXTDATA parameter. Here is more info on "open()" function: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/iseries/v5r2/ic2924/info/apis/open.htm Pay attention to O_CCSID parm. I vaguely recall a parameter on the open call that specifies if it's a text file or not. If not, I'm pretty sure it's just considered binary, and no character translation takes place. It's been a while, but when last I tried, setting the CCSID on an NT share didn't do anything. It's just iso-8859-1, or whatever the Windows blinking code page is on Windows. hth Pete Hall http://www.pbhall.us -- This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
