MikeB,

Not a simple anwser.....many, many variables (i.e. size of report,
available memory, etc.). Not to mention it was at least 6 years ago!

Just some thoughts/ideas...

Are you using Performance Adjust or 3rd party "tuning" software?
If so, whatever I say may not matter as it will be "tweeked" by
either. If using a 3rd party product, look at the "adjustment"
and/or priority values (if any) it might allow you to configure.
I wouldn't recommend shifting in hugh chunks of memory though
as you could negatively impact other jobs.

Without really knowing what you are running or what you have
"to play with", I'm a little reluctant to be more specific with
any suggestions. It may be a simple case of trial and error on
your part. It's important to keep in mind though, that, this
is only ONE report. If memory is the culprit, IMHO you don't want
to permanently assign memory to that pool just for one report.

Michael, I like this approach. Do you remember in % how much you increased it?

Have to agree with MichaelR_41......better to treat the problem.

We had exact same problem "years ago" and the cure was adding additional
memory to the *SPOOL memory pool.

Of course you can always write a monitor utility but it won't really "fix"
the problem.

First off, don't get your haircut. Just let it grow.

Second, you would be treating the symptom and not the problem. You
either don't have enough memory in your printer or your timeout settings
on the printer need to be set higher. Another problem could be not
enough memory in your *SPOOL shared memory pool on your iSeries. It may
need more memory to do the EBCDIc-ASCII conversion.

Maybe a mullet. Just thinking out loud here.
