I've taken a couple of SQL classes from Skip Marchesani (<plug> at the Northeast IBM Users Conference </plug>), and I thought they were pretty good -- I was already somewhat familiar with SQL, but I learned a few things. I've also taken classes from Craig Pelkie and Jim Mason, but they were more Websphere related, and I've bookmarked some of Ron Turrull's articles on the IFS. So I'd say there are some pretty heavy-hitters among the authors. Looking at the table of contents, it seems like the book covers a lot of areas. It isn't cheap (then again, nothing in our world is cheap ;-), but I would expect it's fairly well done. On the other hand, given the range of topics covered, I wouldn't expect a really in-depth discussion of most of them. But it looks like a good way of getting an idea of what sorts of things are possible, so that the reader can take it from there. . . .
