I have nothing against brainstorming, provided you do the grunt work of testing your theories. I'm certainly not going to test your theories, and so if you don't, it's all just hot air. Up until now, though, we really had no way to rigorously test these ideas except on our own machines. The IAAI will create a repository for these ideas, allowing us to compare and contrast various techniques. But the bottom line is you still have to write the code and test it. Brainstorming is great, but it's useless without someone to do the actual work of testing. And the great majority of the discussions on the maikling lists regarding SQL performance is just that: brainstorming, with no real substance to back it up. Joe
