RE: SQL vs. traditional I/O?

Wow - I really set off a spark with this, didn't I?  Thank you all for
the lively discussion.  It's comforting to know that there are others
that share my opinion: we do not need to switch wholesale to imbedded
SQL.

Joe, thank you for the tests: where do you find the time for these
things? :) 

And thanks to all the others that pointed out possible flaws and better
comparisons.

Now, the next time I need to write a dynamic selection, I'll know to
utilize SQL!
