The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
As everyone has already mentioned, you can save upwards with no
problems except the 'no more than 2 prior releases' limits.
Going down, you must honor the 'TGTRLS' of the contents of the save file.
You can restore a higher level save file to a lower level machine,
but you won't be able to display the SAVF or restore the objects (or
look at them). The lower-level OS will tell you that the save file
can't be used.
However. While upgrading an OS, you can load these up-level save
files (ie from SNDPTFORD &c) to your machine. They won't be usable
until you actually upgrade the OS, at which time you can restore from
them and install the PTFs they contain.

Are Save Files portable between versions of OS400?
Can a SAVF created by V4R3 be read/restored by V5R2, and vice versa?
Thanks in Advance!
