It seems like this should be possible, but so far I haven't found a quick
way to do it.  On a real unix system you would be able to do:

lpr file.pdf

or

cat file.pdf > /dev/lp0

However neither of these work on the iSeries.  The problem as I see it is
that the iSeries doesn't put devices on the filesystem, so filesystem
commands (such as copy, move, redirection) don't work with devices.  It
seems quite reasonable to mount a windows shared printer somewhere on the
filesystem using NetServer, though.  Then what you describe should work
fine.
