Michael, About November 2003 the iSeriesNetwork Programmers newsletter, edited by Scott, gave a sample programme to use journalling API, written by Carsten Flensberg. I used that code to "write" my own exit programme (read: adapting the code) and it works well. I do not have the exact where abouts of that newsletter. But it is perhaps worth a while. Journalling and the exits programmes are explained in the Backup and Recovery Guide, chapter 19 and 20. Regards, Carel Teijgeler >Hmmm...guess I'm not sure about this after all. I'm using the RCVJRNE command >and the ENTFMT(*TYPEPTR) parameter. The >manual says: >"For ENTFMT(*TYPEPTR), the format of this data is the same as RJNE0100 in the >Retrieve Journal Entries (QjoRetrieveJournalEntries) >API. " >That's why I was using the RJNE0100 format description. The exit program (that >I wrote) is specified in the RCVJRNE command and is >passed two parameters - >data in the RJNE0100 format and a 3 byte control field. How do I specify the >first parameter? As a long string >(varying length?) and then use the >displacement and offset to determine the positions of the contents?
