Hiya, >We are considering getting either DataMirror or Universal for Data propagation. Universal is based in Windows servers. My question is in the day >to day side for DataMirror, is there extensive operator work required, checking, etc... if so what are some of the issue that the operator and >admin staff have to deal with? We are using DataMirror for more than 1.5years now. Day-to-day maintenance merely consists of checking the central status screen of DM (on both machines). DM will report errors (mostly suspended objects - not in synch) on that screen. If there are suspended objects you'll have to reactivate them by retransmitting to the backup machine. But this normally doesn't happen, unless something goes wrong on your original machine (which should result in some error messages there.). OTOH, you should be prepared for an extended implementation and testing phase. Preparing the stuff for a system switch over is not a piece of cake. In our complicated environment, we still haven't fully tested the switch-over. There are some external servers controlling warehouse automation machinery without a test system that cannot be switched for mere testing. Regards, Oliver
