I can chime in here...

I had been in all weekend doing an upgrade (this was like 8 years ago...)
and I was JUST about done. The system was IPL'ing that one last time before
I would reset Robot for missed jobs and "hit the door". The sign on screen
pops up and I POUND in the user and password "at the speed of light", hit
Enter (to sign on) F3 twice to bypass the initial message screens and
started to type RBM (for Robot), all of this going into the buffer when I
noticed a message at the bottom of the screen and TRIED to hit reset to
clear the buffer - and BOOM no screen. I had keyed in the password wrong and
varied off the console. Of course QINTER was not up and I had to RE IPL to
reset it. That took another 25 minutes which isn't normally too bad, unless
you had been working for 48+ hours... Duh.

Oh well, I think I IPL'ed one AS/400 about three times, via the front
panel, waiting for the signon screen until my coworker and I realized that
we were on the second session of the dumb terminal (Alt-Jump). You can
bet that tidbit is now typed up in my downtime instructions. I like the
tales of stupid user as much as the next guy, and can take it too.
