James, I was looking into that as well, using crtsavf, savlib, and then rstlib.
I am a newbie to AS400 and am developing a package that Id like to have
installed using the "NORMAL" ( native ) commands on the AS400.
Here at Touchtone, we've never bothered with anything IBM has provided for product packaging. We find it simpler just create a save file of the relevant library. For QuestView, we have an installer (written in CL) that does a few more things (like preserving anything the user might have put into the product library if he or she is upgrading from a previous release, and moving that previous release into a backup library, and warning the user if either lack of authority or some security system value will block a successful installation), but that installer, along with the "library-image" save file, simply resides in another save file. Once you have a save file, you can then use that save file to generate tapes, or you can FTP it to a PC, ZIP it, and either email it or make it available for download.
