Chuck, I actually did a similar paper myself for a technical writing course required for my CS degree. Dr. Soltis' book has plenty of excellent information and examples. In particular: 1) the sections about single-level store in comparison to other OS's virtual memory systems. 2) the benefits of the object oriented nature of the OS 3) Technology independence and the CISC to RISC conversion compared to the fact that lots of 64 bit UNIX platforms, which have been around a while still use 32 bit applications. I guess what I'm saying is have your son read the book; I'm not sure how much help we will all be here, given the excellent job Dr. Soltis has already done.
