And your staffing has increased by how many people? :-)) Paul Nelson Arbor Solutions, Inc. 708-670-6978 Cell pnelson@xxxxxxxxxx "Adam Lang" <aalang@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent by: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx 04/22/2004 09:35 AM Please respond to Midrange Systems Technical Discussion To: "Midrange Systems Technical Discussion" <midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> cc: Subject: Re: Recovering deleted documents It wasn't "ignored" for a year. The problem is that we use notepad for our claims notes. That is the way our vendor designed it. About the time we got the error, is about the time IBM mentioned the discontinuation of OfficeVision APIs. So, they have been looking into converting off of officevision anyway which would solve the dual issue. So now we are goign to go to a new box and unfortunately our NEW IT director, who is an accountant, decided that the "delete objects" method to get a backup was better than breakign it into two separate directories to get a backup. I blame it on management. ;) Our NEW IT Director tends to disregard what I and the old boss say are priorities to deal with and concerns himself with what he thinks priorities are. He is a "Microsoft or bust" person whereas my boss (who is also the old boss) is an iSeries guy and I am a Linux guy. Our philosphies worked well together, whereas now we have been switching linux servers to Windows and developing new applications off the iseries onto windows servers as opposed to buildign new apps onto the iseries. ----- Original Message ----- From: <rob@xxxxxxxxx> To: "Midrange Systems Technical Discussion" <midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, April 22, 2004 10:18 AM Subject: Re: Recovering deleted documents > It's lousy operational techniques like this which give the 400 a bad name. > Next thing you'll know they'll be moving the document storage off of the > 400 and on to a wintel server because "it's an iseries issue" and not the > fact that the error message was ignored for a year. > > However, I do wish you good luck on undeleting your documents. > > Rob Berendt > -- > "We have met the enemy and he is us" Pogo > _______________________________________________ > This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list > To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx > To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, > visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l > or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx > Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives > at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l. _______________________________________________ This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
