Along the lines of replacing the 6606s with 6607s, I would probably do
this:

0. Clean tape drive.
1. GO SAVE/21.
1.1 21 again just in case you encounter media errors.
2. Replace 6606s with 6607s (at least the load source pair).
3. IPL from D
3.1 Build new mirrored pairs
3.2 GO RESTORE/21. Follow the Backup & Recovery manual procedures.

Obviously, you'll up system capacity. Also, doing a full restore
generally leads to optimal spreading of the data.

1. The 6607 should work. You'll need pairs for mirroring.
2. Ebay of course. They've got a 6606 and 6607 (same price: $10)

Since it's the load source you'll either have to use another 6606 or
reload the OS.

If you're willing to try, you might be able juggle your disk config by
adding a 6607 pair and then removing a 6606 pair (not the load source
pair).
This assumes DST will let you ignore the load source error. Once done,
you'll have a replacement 6606 for your bad load source drive.
