Does your application use SQL? Have you had the database tuned? (i.e. indexes created) If not, maybe the SQL Optimizer is creating an index dynamically over a large file. You can usually spot this (IDX_XXXX) on WRKACTJOB. The solution is to use the database monitor (STRDBMON) to work out what indexes your system needs, and then create them permanently.
