If your release of OS400 is fairly recent (at least V5R1?) and your AS/400 is directly attached to the Internet (i.e., not behind a firewall), or there is another 400 that is outside the firewall and is addressable from the Internet, there is a Universal Connection setup in Ops Nav that can use the Internet. A VPN session gets started with some IBM server. Also, I don't know about Espana.

One of my customers has his AS/400 connected to a telephone line thru a modem (as has been normal from old days...) connected to one of the AS/400 comm lines.
Once in a while, very seldom, e.g. if a hardware error is detected, the AS/400 will dial to IBM to report the event...

My customer asked me: Since we have all our network capable to connecting to outside world, Internet, ... could we modify some of AS/400 settings so any IBM related tasks are carried thru Internet, so we can get rid of the "dedicated" telephone line and the modem, which is never used otherwise?

Thanks for any info.
