Of course this makes a change in timings like that.
Seems that your name resolution from home isn not in order, what about
your DNS settings? The hosts file is a cure but always a crappy circumvention.
People are always astonished, when you "straighten up" their DNS-configuration
and their LAN suddenly speeds up ... :-)
