Apparently SQLER3 also contains the estimated number of rows when a PREPARE of a SELECT is done.

The number of rows returned on a fetch are returned in SQLER3. SQLER5 = 100 will indicate if you have reached the end of file.

I don't know of a way to get the number of records (or lack of records)
without performing at least one fetch.
