Michael, Are you using overlays? I had a similar performance problem sending AFP overlays to a non-IPDS printer. Using HPT, the overlay gets converted and sent for EACH page! What I finally came up with was to convert the overlay to a PCL macro. The operations staff then sends a PCL file to the printer that stores the macro on the printer. Then I modified the print program to call up the PCL macro and use it as an overlay. Made a HUGE difference! If you need more info, just holler! It works fine...except for the speed. It's unbearably slow when printing to a remote location. These are HP 4100 printers - no IPDS. So, the iSeries is using HPT to convert from AFP to PCL (I believe). Is there anything I can do to increase the throughput? TIA...
