Hello everyone, Apologies is this is off topic or not the correct etiquette but I'm hoping some of you midrangers also dabble on the mainframe side of things. I am looking at a S/390 Parallel Enterprise Server 6th Generation mainframe. Just to the side of the big red power on/off switch is a small white label with this written on it: M/T 9672 S/N 51-65683 Our company has no internal IBM mainframe experience so we have been interviewing a couple of consultants to give us some help. So far so good. We have discovered that the S/390 is missing the two power cables it needs to get connected to a three phase power supply and the service processor is also absent. I am told that the service processor is a PC running special software that lets it communicate management functions to the S/390 via a token ring network interface card link. As the power cables and service processor are pretty fundamental to getting this little beastie up and running we are currently asking the company that supplied the S/390 to check these items didn't get left behind by accident. What would be of a great help at this stage is either (or both) the part numbers for these missing items or a photograph/graphic of the parts to help our supplier locate them. My guess on the power cables is that they are still hidden beneath the raised computer room floor! In any case if these parts have been lost we will need to source replacements and knowing the correct part numbers to order will be pretty much essential. So any help on power cables and service processor part numbers/photographs? Thanks in advance. Regards, Andy Cranston. ________________________________________________________________________ This message has been checked for all known viruses by the Selway Moore scanning service powered by MessageLabs.
