I believe there is an option on the restore that says you are restoring to
a different system. Failure to tell it that will make your system a pile
of ashes, of which I am told a scratch install from media will not fix.
Something about restoring this one hardware table, SRM, I believe.

Actually there is a section in the Backup and Restore guide that steps you
right through exactly what you are trying to do.

Subject
Scratch install from 820 to 810

Hiya,

we have just upgraded (hardware-wise) our hot-standby system (810) and
want to use it as our
production system (currently 820).

So I have a full backup from the 820 and want to scratch install the 810
from that tape. Are
there any gotchas in that case? Both systems are running V5R2.

Any tips?

Thanks,

Oliver
