Subject: RE: The ability to have one console for many AS400's

We use a 4-to-1 DB9 switchbox - the Ops Console (serial) cables from the
400s plugs into it, and one standard 9-pin serial cable goes to the Win2K
machine that is the console. You need to disconnect the OpsConsole software
and set to the right 400, then reconnect in the software. But it works very
well. We use this for 2 model 270s, as well as our phone system and a Cisco
DSL modem, each with its attendant software.

Cost was $30-35, IIRC. Needed to get some gender changers, but there are
switchboxes that would not need them, I believe. They are sometimes called
monitor switchboxes.
