Contact the manufacture of the production scoreboards. If each number has
its own IP, then they are speaking TCP/IP. Find out whether they are acting
as a client or server. (Do they initiate the connection to the AS400 or
does the AS400 connect to them.) You will need to know what port they use
or if you configure the remote system / port. Then it is either a socket
client or server program on the AS400 that you will need to write. Of
course you will need to know what it's syntax is.

Subject: Production Scoreboards

We are about to install some production scoreboards in the factory. They
will have an ethernet card in them and will be attached to our network. I
would like to be able to send 4 numbers to this board directly from the
AS400. Now for the big question. Can I do this? I have no idea where to
begin. Each number on this board will have it's own IP address. It seems
as though I should be able to send the number to this board to display. But
I don't know how to configure the device or how to accomplish any of this.

If anyone has done this could you please give me some pointers on where to
get started. I would like to use an RPG program.
