Sound like what you are trying to do is open up a second site that will need to access the existing site's AS400. If you are using TCP/IP on your AS400 currently, you will need to build a new network at the new site and bridge the two via private frame relay. Once your network department does that, you just need to know what the route is to the remote site. If your as400 already has a default route setup and your network people add the new route to the default router, well nothing needs to be done on the AS400 side. Are you using any APPC? If so, you may want to switch to *anynet and run your APPC over TCP/IP. A little configuration to setup but not rocket science. As for keeping our multiple AS400's in sync, well we have a custom written real time mirroring package that allows us to do file updates on multiple machines. I do not think you need a remote AS400 for your RF units and PC's. Let the network people plan the new network and the link back to the main office. Your part may be done. ;-) Chris Bipes -----Original Message----- From: Jeffry Kennedy [mailto:jkennedy@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, November 12, 2003 12:19 PM To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Subject: Re: Remote Ethernet I need more than 5250 support. We would need to support our RF units (controller, ethernet atatched), remote printers and PC's with 5250 emulation. Maybe a remote 400 would be a good choice ? How do you keep the 2 AS/400 in sink ?
