managed code is the thing that tracks references to objects ( memory ) and performs auto garbage collection on objects that are no longer in use. as far as including Java in the MS/CLI managed world, Java is a .NET language, so my guess is that it can be a CLI language. But, I understand neither CLI or ILE.
