Perhaps there is some way to vandalize the source member so that it would only compile from your MAKE program? Just today I worked with an IBMer who tried to compile QDSIGNON on an IBM system and it wouldn't until we changed the member type (it defaults to *NONE or blank). Granted, your comments will have to include "Run the MAKE program fella". So somewhere in IBM a signon screen has been changed by someone who didn't know that you had to use 14 to compile. Simply using 2 to edit and saving it wasn't sufficient. However, they were remote and were clever enough to figure out how to use iSeries Navigator all on their own to bounce QINTER to take the change. Boy, you give a newbie a good graphical tool and they can zip through stuff... Sadly, I know how this works. You specify the member on the DTAMBRS keyword of the CRTLF command. My very serious recommendation is to create a CL program to create/re-create the LF as well as put the create command in comments at the top of the DDS source so you won't forget to use the special create program. There will come a time when you want to re-create this LF, and someone WILL simply take PDM option 14 and then your application won't quite be the same. You'll spend a good long time trying to figure out what happened, and THEN remember the funky LF. Not what I'd call a Good Day. --buck _______________________________________________ This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
