All, At the weekend I upgraded my 730 from OS V4.5 to V5.2 , a few problems were unearthed such as the IP routing table needed to be rebuilt , which has now been rectified. But I still have an outstanding problem. We have 4 Win2k servers connected by ODBC/JDBC connections to my AS400. These servers run an identical Java application apart from the initial start-up program which defines which AS400 library the Java app is supposed to use. The Java programs are defined with a default library in case no library is defined within the start-up script. This default library happens to be the production library. The production servers work, the test servers that use the override library in the start-up program do not. What I have found is that each server creates 4 QZDASOINIT threads on the AS400 when the app is started, the 1st QZDASOINIT thread uses the default library, any subsequent QZDASOINIT threads opened use the override library. The problem being that the 1st QZDASOINIT thread is using the wrong AS400 library. This problem never occurred at V4.5 , but does at V5.2. Installed on the AS400 I have Toolbox for Java V5R2 Java development kit 1.1.8 I do know that JDK1.2 , 1.3 , 1.4 exist to be installed on the AS400 but my thoughts at the time were to keep the same JDK level as V4.5. This may be incorrect thinking on my behalf and if I need to go to JDK1.4 on the AS to resolve my problem then I will do so. But I do not want to have to install the newer JDK just for the sake of it. The client JDK on the servers is JDK1.1.5 Help would be appreciated. I have posted this on the Java midrange forum , but so far no reply has been forthcoming.
